Pune Metro 3: Launch Delayed Despite Safety Clearance

Pune Metro 3's Shivajinagar-Hinjawadi corridor is facing further delays despite receiving CMRS safety clearance for its first 12-km stretch around two weeks ago. PMRDA and Pune IT City Metro have yet to announce a confirmed launch date. The delay is longer than several other Pune Metro routes that began services shortly after receiving safety approval. Meanwhile, the complete 23-station corridor could face an extension until March 31, 2027, with all stations targeted for operation by December 2026. The project is crucial for Hinjawadi IT employees and daily commuters, who are awaiting an alternative to Pune's congested roads.
